New Chester-class heavy cruiser

The second generation of Antaran heavy cruisers were a sizable departure from the Union Grove class. Though built to a slightly larger displacement, a more thought out hull form and raised forecastle corrected the stability issues present in the previous class. New Chester opted for a three-gun three turret gun layout once engineers were able to correct dispersion issues caused by firing the guns too closely to one another. The initial solution was to simply fire the battery in half salvos, and then some adjustments to the gun mount itself solved the engineering problem. Three-gun turrets would become the standard for heavy cruisers from then on.

The New Chesters were the first cruisers to utilize a primarily heavy semi-armour piercing/base-fuse (SAP) based ammunition loadout. This doctrinal shift was a result of years of bickering between admirals and fleet planners trying to decide whether the navy should ditch the heavy cruiser idea entirely as their 150mm artillery was for the large part superior in every relevant metric to 200mm artillery. Due to treaty limits restricting new built ships to a maximum of 10 000 tonnes standard, no cruiser was expected to have meaningfully thick enough armour to protect the vessel's vitals, and thus the advantages of 200mm armour piercing rounds were small. Instead, it was determined that 200mm heavy SAP rounds had sufficient penetration to defeat the armour of most same tonnage ships, and that the extra explosive filler granted by the size of the round was enough justification to keep up production of heavy cruisers.

The New Chesters has a subclass of two vessels, Shawville and Veerburg. The two groups were built with seaplane hangar facilities, but in differing configurations. New Chester and Ruby City had a more crowded hangar closer to the center of the hull, but the second group had the hangar closer to the aft. The aft hangar configuration was more desirable as it was less crowded and improved the center of gravity of the ship and made the ship more stable in heavy seas.

V-212 class fleet submarine

The V-212s were the last class of Antaran submarines built during the World War, commissioned between 1346-1350. Largely the same in external appearance to what came before, they saw improvements in construction techniques and overall efficiency. Some vessels of were converted to radar pickets to serve as early warning ships for incoming hostile aircraft during the Battle for Osora. After the war most were selected for various modernization and improvement plans to bring them more or less up to par with newer post-war builds. Most were scrapped by 1372.

V-66 class coastal submarine

The V-66s were a small class of coastal submarines built just prior to the outbreak of the World War. As the name suggests, their primary area of operation was off of the coast of Antara's East and Western shores, and thus saw action during the opening two years of the war. As the Pan-Antaran states signed peace treaties, the remaining V-66s were rebased to northern Alcamba, seeing action against the Siegs and Salians.

Though they did not see as much continued development as their larger fleet boat cousins, the V-66s were a nearly perfected design. They were as fast and similiarly armed, though on a smaller and slightly slimmer hull.

Elsense-class destroyer leader/scout

Built in the mid 30s, the Elsenses were a modern generation of Sieg fleet scouts and destroyer leaders. Though classified as destroyer scouts/leaders, they were recognised as light cruisers in the WNT. They were built for speed, floatplane facilities and armoured flag facilities for the flotilla command staff. As was generally the case, the Sieg Navy spent their light cruiser tonnage on light scouts and colonial cruisers.

V-287 class hunter-killer submarine

The V-287s were the first class of Antaran hunter-killer submarines (then still referred to as fleet boats) and the first series of boats built after the World War. As the nation shifted back towards a civilian economy, the navy cancelled its last batch of V-212s and instead started working on the next generation of fleet submarines. The snorkle, which first started appearing on select V-212s in 1347, was integrated from the start, though at the time still undergoing interations and improvement. Setups ranged from large and defective snorkles to more slimmed down versions that would become standard.

V-287 adopted a horizontally folding bow plane, copied from captured Sieg submarines mid-war, and her superstructure and hull become more streamlined. Her propulsion was also modernized and uprated, and combined with a more streamlined hull her underwater speed was vastly improved. As Hunter-Killer submarines, they were the first Antaran underwater boats to adopt an ASW mission. Acoustic torpedoes, first used during the war, saw promising improvements.

The navy invested heavily in improving its active and passive SONAR capabilities, evident by its two side-by-side SONAR projects SEAFIN and SEA-RCH throughout the late-50s and 60s. SEAFIN boats had three fin-like SONAR domes, evenly spaced. Not nearly as ambitious as SEA-RCH, and almost written off because of poor training, it still greatly improved the sub-to-sub capability of the boats they were fitted on. SEAFIN also gave boats the capability of firing wire-guided acoustic torpedoes. As would be doctrine for the next few decades, some of these torpedoes contained nuclear warheads.

SEA-RCH on the otherhand, was over-budget and a technical nightmare. Submarines sporting this suite had two notable bulges on the bow top and bottom, as well as two domes fore and aft of the sail. SEA-RCH boats lost to SEAFIN boats in wargames a majority of the time. While it seemed SEAFIN would be adopted fleet wide, a number of core issues were solved by the mid 60s, and the project would finally bare fruit. Though fewer boats ended up adopting the original SEA-RCH, it would pave way for the SEA-RCH II SONAR suite and become standard for submarines past the 70s.

The first batch of V-287s were commissioned in 1349, with the last coming in 1353.
