Re: FFLX/FFGX
You listed some wars but didn't explain why they were good example supporting your hypothesis; in fact I think they do not support your hypothesis. FFGX with simplified radar seems like a decent idea. But I would describe it rather as an ASW sloop rather than a police cruiser; it fills a role that's ...

Re: FFLX/FFGX
You have been provided with myraid, but Iran is a good example mentioned twice now. Libya is an even better one. Or any ESG/ARG/CSG that needs self defense capabilities without the bells and whistles, so pretty much one anywhere other than off the coast of China. Right now they have DDGs in tow ...

Re: FFLX/FFGX
I am indeed not going to individually respond to each of the several paragraphs you make in response to every sentence I write. This is in the interests of time, preserving my sanity, and not crashing the server after half a dozen iterations of exponential post length increase. It is not meant as an ...

Re: FFLX/FFGX
1. Your OP specifically says it can fire SM2. Read the thread, that requirement was removed. You will not is not included in the weapons envelopes provided. 2. The stated load out even without SM2 is equivalent to a lot of European first-line warships. They don't cost $350m. FREMM for instance has ...

Re: FFLX/FFGX
You exclude AEGIS and SPY and instead fit a newer radar with equivalent or greater (?) functionality, paired with the regular Mk 41 VLS. Cost saving comes only from smaller size as far as I can see, while overall complexity of systems increases. There's no obvious saving here and a good chance of ...

Re: FFLX/FFGX
Your solution to the problem of designing a cheaper ship than Arleigh Burke for low intensity missions seems to be to build an even more advanced ship that is scaled down about to about 75% the size. I wouldn't be surprised if a RL build of "Trident" ended up costing more than Flight III Arleigh ...

When is this going in the archive?
And I mean to insult no-one, unlike Timothy in his post.

You seem to have the same non-notable WIP in your signature as when I checked this site last year.TimothyC wrote:Irrelevant.APDAF wrote:Snip
