Re: USS Chicago, Albany-class CG
how was it on the top deck, when the weather started to be "funny" It was very harry! Once during heavy seas north of Norway, a shipmate and I went up there and tied ourselves to the guide lines for about 5 minutes ‘till we were caught and sent below. Imagine being that high up and taking twenty p ...

dalamace: I served aboard Albany. You’ve done a very fine rendering of one God ugly ship. Thanks for the memories. how was it on the top deck, when the weather started to be "funny" It was very harry! Re: The New Hampshire-Class Battleship Revisited
Sorry David, there appears to be a single 5" missing starboard side aft by the raised 40mm quad. On the birdseye view. Nigel, Its been fixed. Good catch on the missing 5" single. As I look at that area, I don't think those single mounts can train. Their gun shield is blocked by the 40mm quad ...

Re: Spainsh CATOBAR Aircraft Carrier Concept
The drawing is very attractively rendered! That said, it seems to suffer from a fatal flaw: a lack of freeboard. Thirteen feet relative to the floor of the hangar, and only six feet relative to the RHIB aft. The ship does not seem survivable in a heavy sea even in an undamaged condition. She might ...

Re: The New Hampshire-Class Battleship Revisited
Erik, I find your idea to replace the 6in runs with dual 5in/38 and the 5in/25 with single pedestal mounts intriguing and I have begun working on the drawing. Here it is: https://www.dropbox.com/s/4vyugt36fv5tkr0/USS%20Kansas%20%20%28BB%2057%29%201944%20Measure%2022%205In%20Guns%20finished.png?dl=1

The New Hampshire-Class Battleship Revisited
After further review, I have to agree with Karl94: the New Hampshire-Class was too beamy and the bow too pointy. Here is a redesign in which I have tried to remedy these defects and more. New Hampshire-Class Battleships The basic assumption of this thread is that the terms of the Washington Naval ...
