Commonwealth of Malpusian States
Posted: October 26th, 2011, 12:59 pm
Due to a huge deviation from the previous version of the AU I have started a new thread. Please mods feel free to delete the old one
My aim to to create a total AU world incorporating some existing AU's by other users (these will be credited, don't worry about that
The Commonwealth of Malpusian States was formed in 1921 when 10 British and 4 French states declared independence and formed a Commonwealth. This is run much like Australia or the US where each state has reasonable governmental powers but the Federal Government has a large influence as well.
In 1926, after a long period of transition the Malpusian Defence Force was formed. It operated 2 Seaplane Carriers, 3 Battleships, 3 Battlecrusiers, 8 Crusiers and 23 smaller combat vessels. Alongside this it had an Army of 190,000 and an Airforce of 200 Aircraft.
The nation began WW2 as a neutral power with a signed alliance with the USA. When the Japanese attacked the Americans at Pearl Harbor, Malpus had to go to war. By 1945 it was the 4th largest contributor to the Allies.
In 1990 the Soviet Union collaped at Malpus jumped on this by declaring a new alliance with Russia. This caused some anxiety from the US but nothing bad has yet happened due to it.
1990 saw Saddam invaded Kuwait and this caused prompt action by Malpus as they were ready to fight within 18 days. 29 days later the UN signed off the use of Military action and within 120 hours Kuwait and most of Southern Iraq were secure. Basra was the most northerly point of a new demilitarised zone.
After minor conflicts in the 1990s which Malpus had little or no involvement in the 2001 invasion of Afganistan commenced and Malpus deployed forces to the Gulf encase of an escalation. In 2003 these forces took part of the invasion of Iraq by providing vessels for the naval blockade.
In 2010 Malpus decided to send forces to Afganistan and deployed forces to Helmend Province. Its most recent conflict was with Libya in 2011 when Warplanes and Naval forces were deployed.
