Ships of the Falklands War (AU)
The Royal Navy goes south looking much different than their IRL counterpart. In this AU, there is more funding for the Royal Navy but not enough to deter a Argentine Invasion. There is a mix between my own drawings and drawings I recoloured to match the rest of the ships along with a few changes. Some ships are excluded solely on the grounds that I did no work with them (I.e HMS Endurance or the Castle-class). There is no real PoD although changes to designs and new ships will begin from the early 1970s.

I can just imagine the furballs with Phantoms vs Mirages and Skyhawks.

Centaur-class Light Carrier

HMS Hermes (R12) as in service in 1982 [Note: Drawing is mostly by Bombhead]
Ships of the Class:
HMS Centaur (R06) [Decomissioned 1966]
HMS Albion (R07) [Decomissioned 1971]
HMS Bulwark (R08) [Decomissioned 1974]
HMS Hermes (R12) [Commando Carrier as of 1982]
The Centaur-class was mostly sacrificed to allow for the budget and spare parts to keep Victorious and Eagle running until the Queen Elizabeths entered service. Hermes would be the sole survivor of the class and would be in service during the Falklands War as a Commando Carrier. Hermes would take on RAF Harrier GR.3s during the Falklands War to take pressure off Queen Elizabeth's Buccaneers.

Crown Colony-class Guided Missile Cruiser

HMS Gibraltar during the Falklands War
Ships of the Class:
HMS Gibraltar (C01)
HMS Bermuda (C02)
HMS St. Helena (C03) [Working Up]
HMS Hong Kong (C04) [Under Construction]
HMS Falkland Islands (C05) [Under Construction]
HMS Anguilla (C06) [Under Construction]
HMS Montserrat (C07) [Cancelled in 1981 Defence White Paper]
HMS Virgin Islands (C08) [Cancelled in 1981 Defence White Paper]
Gibraltar would sail with the initial task force. Bermuda would arrive as part of the 'Bermuda Group' later in the conflict.

Re: Ships of the Falklands War (AU)
Nice ships, especially your Queen Elizabeth Class carrier. But she seems resized.

As far as i have noticed, larger images are always resized. I gues it's part of the new forum. They should be in the original size after you download them.odysseus1980 wrote: ↑January 7th, 2025, 3:26 am Nice ships, especially your Queen Elizabeth Class carrier. But she seems resized.

you don't need to download, just right-click and choose "Open image in new tab"Cascadia wrote: ↑January 7th, 2025, 6:55 pmAs far as i have noticed, larger images are always resized. Oh, I made my post on the assumption that it's not just about looking at the images but also saving them on someones own drive, like I do.

I opened the image and worked. Very nice carrier indeed.
