Alsace Design No.3

#1 Post by Karle94 »

This was the last of three designs to be considered in 1940 for the successor to the Richelieu class; the Alsace. Having landed upon a layout for the secondary battery, the next question was whether the new class would be armed with 9x15" guns, 9x16" guns or 12x15" guns. The last would have been the largest of the designs at 265m long and a displacement of 46.000 tons standard. The secondary battery would consist of 9x6" guns and 24x100mm DP guns in twin turrets. The lighter battery would consist of 24x37mm guns in enclosed twin mounts, and 32x25mm guns in open twin mounts. Speed was to be 32kts.

The French built beautiful battleships, and this would've been no exception. Excellent work, as always!

Looks at everything before the Dunkerque's

Let's just say that the French learned to make beautiful battleships in the mid 1930's.

Brilliant work, nevertheless.
