Here's a modern plane for you then.

Valmiero is next on my list to flesh out. E-7 Wedgetails, KC-10, Tu-22M, A-6, MiG-27 and a few others.

Oooo.... Nice one Colo

Well Done old chap
And welcome to Ship Bucket MJL - Do I spy an arrester hook on the back of that plane? Is there a story behind that (being an Air Force plane and all)

what if i told you that most fighter aircraft have tailhooks.

Honestly? Then I would find that most difficult to believe. I am no expert when it comes to aircraft engineering, but it is my understanding that most aircraft do not have the structual integrity for Carrier Operations, and therefore an arrester hook would simply be surplus to requirement adding both weight and drag.
But as I said, I'm no expert in that field old chap and am open to correction.

I thought most fighter aircraft had arrestor hooks "just in case" - mainly for emergencies (not to make them suitable for aircraft landing). We are also not sure yet if the Shrike is carrier-capable... Matt and I are going to be figuring that out in the next couple of days.

Hmmm... In that case, it would appear I was wrong and I stand corrected.
Thank you chaps

Some info about land-based arrested gear here:

SMS World is probably the most extreme AU in Shipbucket, but I admit it has wonderfully drawn material.

I have been collecting sources to try to draw the B-1B (I think if anything the archive deserves a copy). I'm sure North Point would get a version of it if that were to happen.

The B-1A is rather similar, and while the B-1B was better for the mission it was built for, I wonder, fully upgraded with modern widgets, if the A wouldn't be better for most roles it would actually be actively called upon to do?
