Here we have an unrealized 1948 USAF Material Command design for a penetration fighter (
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Penetration_fighter). The only info I've been able to find (also probably the only info that exists) came from here:

USAF Test and Evaluation - Based on the F-86 test scheme from 1947, this shows the aircraft in it's evaluation phase, probably 1949-50.
27th Fighter Escort Wing - Korea, 1952
4th Fighter Interceptor Wing - Korea, 1952
Point Mugu Detachment, China Lake - In 1958 the aircraft were retired and a number were sent to the Navy for drone use. This shows an aircraft circa 1977, one of the last surviving aircraft.
