They were flown by the legendary VMF-251 ("The Gunblazers") during the battle to recapture Guam during the Korean War. I think they operated off the battlecarrier USS Charlton Heston, the newest (at the time) of the Midway class.

They are a pretty famous squadron and I'm a bit surprised that you don't know this story...

HAHAHAHAH! it is Convair 200A, the first JSF concept.

It had nothing to do with JSF. It was a radar equiped supersonic replacement for the original Harriers. It would have been used aboard the Sea Control Ships to offer a longer ranged air defense than was capable with Sidewinders. In the end it (and it's competitors) lost to an upgraded Harrier (the Harrier II/AV-8B). There was a CATOBAR version proposed, but even that was dropped when the VTOL contract went to the unsuccessful XFV-12 (who's models showed that it should generate more lift than it did in the real world - hence showing limitations of models at the time).

You're all lying, that's the aircraft that shot down Kim Jong Il's DC-3 loaded with Parisian prostitutes en route to Pyongyang - and hence probably the reason the North Koreans hate us today!
