We had a drive-in outside of town when I was growing up. Since it was the only movie theater in town, they did a pretty good business. They did have some odd pairings for double features though, such as one night we went and the movies were "Chitty Chitty Bang Bang" followed by "True Grit". I am guessing they saw the "bang bang" part of the title and thought it might be a western too. LOL

There's not as much of a thematic dissonance as, say...I dunno, "The Lorax" combined with "Saw 3D."

Actually "Chitty Chitty Bang Bang" and "True Grit" (I'm assuming you mean the original one which, yes, I've seen too) would go together like "Planet Terror" and "Death Proof" :)
