Left is beter, qua style and time frame. IMO.

A question then, facing fore or aft in the drawing? I figure that at least during offensive operations it would be set facing forward so to clear the turret and gun directors.

Personally I like two, but agree one is more historical. Go with forward...

I prefer the first option, though you'll have to raise the crane a bit to clear the wings of the aircraft.
I'd have it pointing forward, since that will obstruct the least amount of details on the drawing.

Anything else that needs added to this one? Plus, I still could use some ideas about how to go about the bow shading where the flightdeck overhangs the bow.
Also, since I've lost my work on the follow-on Titania (laid down 1920, commissioned 1924), what do you think she should look like? An expanded version of the Harpy? Something else entirely, maybe like the Ranger, Lexington or Ark Royal?

Well Lexington was originally gonna be a battlecruiser so if u have any of those lying around incomplete u could make a carrier out of that
Ranger and Ark Royal were more 30s designs but if in your AU world carrier design advances faster then it did in real life those would be good choices
I say an expanded version of Harpy however considering your time of it being laid down and commisioned is the most realistic and im very sorry to hear about all your work you lost

So, a couple folk wanted to see the King Robert bigger, so I fiddled some with it and made it longer and came up with the
Stella Maris class of 1924. Outwardly similar to the preceeding King Robert/King Malcolm classes, the Stella Marises differed in having an additional twin 16"/45 turret, as well as larger boilers and improved turbines to permit a top speed of 24 knots as opposed to the 21 knots of the previous classes. The casemated 6" were also removed and replaced with 5.5" mounts, and the AA armament was increased from 4 x 3"HA, which were removed, to 14 single 2 Pdr's. She also has two catapults, located midships instead of the single turret mounted catapult.
(Have I mentioned that I really enjoy doing 20's - 30's era ships? Definately my favorite era for warship design.)
