Gotta admit, I like the enclosed bow better too.

Need to work on that spotting tower though. Still not quite satisfied with it.

That's an interesting setup for the island and funnels. They appear to be on the starboard side but well inboard, would it not be pertinent to perhaps cant the superstructure and funnels outwards so as to less interrupt the flight ops?

Yeah, I kinda get that impression as well. They are supposed to be on the edge of the deck, like normal, with a small sponsoned portion of the deck to starboard, but thats not the impression it gives. The funnel arrangement is the way it is because they are in the identical locations as the rest of the Saturn class except for being on the starboard side instead of centerline of the hull. I figured they would go with that as the hull was taken over prior to launch but after a significant amount of construction had been done prior to completion as a carrier, if that makes any sense? For the island, I wanted to use a cruiser-like structure because at the time these ships were considered to be cruisers, scout cruisers specifically, and not a seperate class of ship, and I wanted the island to represent that design philosophy.

I like the design :) Perhaps removing the railing next to the funnels and superstructure would help it appear to be on the starboard side? Just out of curiosity are the guns on the sponsons 4in or something bigger?

The 4 " fore and aft of the superstructure are on the deck. The 5.5" on the sides are partially recessed into the hull, with sponsons to bring them out to clear it. They aren't fully on sponsons. It is supposed to be an arrangement similar to what the Hermes had.

ok, I did a quick-n-dirty cross section

This is supposed to be what she looks like from bow on, at just forward of midships. The darker gray is the original Saturn hull, the lighter gray is that which was added on.

So, I have a question for you shading experts, how do I shade that section above the original hull to show that it carries out further? (did I phrase that right?)

Kinda looks like a Lexington-class carrier mashed with HMS Hermes, if you get what I mean.

More like an enlarged Hawkins class (see above for cruiser inspired by that design) but maybe larger? Anyway, Notwithstanding some areas for further development, the overall concept is imho very good. :)

Thank you. I try.

I suppose that a few folk here think I am rather trying as well.

I'm having fun basically recreating my navy from scratch with unique designs instead of copy/paste like so many others (not here of course, but on NS).
