The Stielhandgranate was a common sight in most theatres of war during WW2, and also in films about that period, and so it is good to see it drawn here.
It is also interesting to note that many German soldiers used to tuck the grenades in the top of their boots or between the webbing staps of their ammo pouches.

If one was to shoot the charge of the grenade, it wouldn't be good

Now onto something that's still deadly, but isn't one-time usage

Switzerland - Handgranate 43
Image
The HG 43 is basically an offensive stickgrenade, made of thin aluminium. A fragmentation sleeve could be placed over the head to turn it into a defensive fragmentation grenade. Bodies of these grenades can be screwed onto eachother to increase the blast or to transform it to a stretched charge (double or triple charge). Also a big charge was available and fitted over a normal grenade (concentrated charge).

The swiss army uses different colours for different types of ammunition. Grey indicates combat ammunition (black is for exercices ammunition, blue for auxiliary ammuntion, green for tracer ammuntion and brown for manipulation ammunition). The additional yellow colour indicates explosives.

The HG 43 was introduced in 1943, in 1985 the swiss army introduced the HG 85 as replacment, but the HG 43 was used untill around 1995, because the swiss army still had big stocks of HG 43.
