Oh, right. Those are the proposed version for the Zumvalt then
“Close” only counts with horseshoes, hand grenades, and tactical nuclear weapons.
That which does not kill me has made a grave tactical error

No, It's a Zumwalt-like deck house for the Oto 127mm gun.

As for the radars, It wouldn't be totally out of the question to have SMART-L and SPY-1 and the associated SPG-62 slaved guidance radars isn't out of the question.

I apologize for the late reply. When I have time, I'll redo the guns, make the hull deeper and look into the radar issues. I've been having a bit of a rough time the last few days, sorry for the innactivity...

That would make quite a bit of sense. S-band isn't ideal for air search by any means.

Updated. Additional comments?

Something else I made to pass the time. Its a small frieghter meant for coastal shipping. I'm not entirely happy with the bridge structure, so I thought I'd upload it and ask what I should do to it.

on the cruiser: is it nuclear, or is that high structure aft an funnel?
also, why the front SPY-1 higher then the aft? the front ones have an unobstructed view, the aft one are partially blocked by the hangar and funnel, so if one of them should be higher it should be the aft one.
also, that is one weird VLS setup

the merchant looks more or less correct, some small bits need correcting (for example, lifeboat is a bit hard to reach from the structure(all those stairs you have to run while the ship goes down :P ) , structure a bit too much up front for an modern coastal vessel, crane's both at almost the same point (strenght issues), weird waterline and weird stern)

the bridge structure... well I can only say, look at real ones. nothing is really wrong with it, and on ships like these, about everything that is cheap and spacious enough is possible.

I can't remember if I posted this already, but here it is again. The Ikara class is the Prizyetsi navy's prime minesweeper. It is lightly armed with only a 45mm gun, two 12.5mm guns and a defensive anti air missile launcher on the fore deck, but has great endurance and a modest but complete electronics suite. It caries 13 Hjelland RC minesweepers, 12 under cover of the aft deck, and one ready for use.

Updated the electronic systems and played a bit with the props. Advice is much needed! :)

First of all i'd like to apologize for my absence, and explain the reason behind it. After that, I have a ship design I feel I should show you guys for a good critique.

About a month ago, my laptop died on me. Something with the fan and it overheating and all that jazz. Since then I've had finals which have taken an insane amount of time from me but now I only have French left so I have time to dick about again. Before this occurred, I guess I just didn't feel up to doing drawing anymore, but I feel (somewhat?) motivated again, so I'm back.

The ship I have to show you is, or is supposed to be, a frigate from what I understand of the role of the ship. According to everything I've read so far, frigates are meant to protect the fleet from air and submarine threats, while the destroyer's role is more of an offensive one, knocking out surface targets. If I'm wrong, please correct me.

The ship, the Kormosk class, is for Nation States, so please take this into account when reviewing the weapon systems, as they are only based off of contemporary weapons in both aesthetics and function.

Image

So here it is, the Kormosk class frigate. She's armed with a 130mm deck gun on her fore-deck, the (my region is still looking for a name for the medium range surface-to-air missile), and the Svelge close-in surface-to-air missile. Amidships, the Kormosk class is armed with the SS-ASM-01 "Inja" missile system. Finally, to fill the anti-submarine role, the Kormosk class carries a compliment of either two small utility helicopters (which fit inside the hangar area) armed with either torpedoes or depth charges, or a single heavy utility helicopter on her aft heli-deck.

The Kormosk is driven by two gas turbine engines driving four screws propelling her up to 35 knots.

Opinions/critiques?

I almost want to extend the heli-deck to even her shape out, what do you all think?

I don't think the I-mast can control that missile. the funnel blocks the I-mast to the aft. apart from that it seems workable on first glance, but far from ideal
