Those are ''windows'' with camera's behind it?
You know what i like the most of this?

And then that crane.
the bridge windows look wrong indeed.... but that's how they are shown on the drawing, can't make anything better from it. and there was an crane over there, I just picked the one with the right size that entire area has to be redone, anyways

Re the bridge windows; I would think that it is the Phalanx that is out of scale; and by extension the whole ship thingy must be much larger than your allowing for. But if you ingest some mescalin and gaze at it down the wrong end of a telescope, it looks fine

yout think the entire ship is still not large enough? it is already more then 400 meters in length.... the entire design just isn't practical

I am not really sure (because I can't read Japanese that good) but I think these were on to give the ship an stealth look. for their role..... other then something for keeping the ECM panels in positions , I have no clue. (if anybody out here can read japanese, I have some great pages from the artbook, and I'd love to see them translated )
Sorry to bump up this older topic, but I actually like the carrier.
It's ugly, weird, ungainly, impractical...Yes, but that's why I love it!! Strange though, as all the planes (except the Japanese Navy carrier planes) look fantastic.

BTW, if you really want a "Shipbucket Challenge", try drawing the AAC Banshee to SB scale...
But I digress.
I've got just one question for Acelancelot: Where did you get the artbook?
banshee is on my list.... you have just given me the right references for it!!
but, I have some other stuff to finish first, real design stuff and of course space battleship yamato!

first wip of the space battleship yamato http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LKe0wARmks4
I know, it still looks like nothing, (and I think most of you won't like it anyway) but I couldn't stand that this epic piece of anime history wasn't in this thread.... and ALVAMA's yamato give me the last hint to start

Some useful references...
These are the two different versions, the original series version, and the "Bandai" version with added detail created for the video games and large 1/350th scale model.
