We already have a Dane there (IIRC Thiel is also an engineer) :)

No, I took a Limo-van up. The whole area is a national park, and there was a parking lot about 10 meters bellow the second shot. For the first one, I was just in front of the upper visitor's center. The Limo-van tour was more expensive than the regular mini-bus tour, but it was worth it.

I lived in Hawaii for a few years in the late 70's, and never could get used to the idea that cold weather gear was necessary in certain parts of those tropical islands. LOL.
