with the reason story off USS Connecticut (Seawolf class), that have some.... sonar bow damage. Basically by looking at picture, the entire sonar doom and bow section is gone, and you can see directly into the sonar.
Reminds me of this classic video:

Re: Random picture thread Mk 3
saw and article on the internett and it reminded me about an old video.
What type of weather does Widerøe fly the airplane in, this video bellow is a good example on that, notice the ground crew, cleaning snow out of the air-intake of the engine :
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yEpThhG ... ngOfficial
Oh and yes they did fly after this, the video was made by the Widerøe captain, they occasionally put up videos from various things on their Facebook side, for example how they say hello to new ground crew, by having someone hiding in the cargo hold of the aircraft...

an interesting photo:
The naval gun array was photographed at the U.S. Navy Surface Warfare Center in 1989.
Large photo!:

https://www.google.no/maps/@38.3470434, ... a=!3m1!1e3
It is also the place where they test fire the rail gun, I did a fast measurement, it's quite interesting to see that around 20km from where the rail-gun fire from on, down the fjord, there is a community of houses, so they are basically firing in the direction of civilians with a gun that should be able to do more than 20km. There is of course a wall between, but think if something went wrong, wonder how many people would suddenly have been silenced (bribed)! Just a tough.

Sorry admin for posting pure engine porn I hope it isn't to graphic
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GSpBrAJ3buE
the sound of shear unadulterated power of a 100 hk Union semidiesel engine (some might call it hot bulb engine), it is probably the only engine of it's brand/make that is still in use (privately owned)
If you need to explain someone what engine power is, this is the video for you.

On the topic of ridiculous crafts of the world, this one is a good contender, a Cuban torpedo craft... a barge with a single torpedo tube and outboard engine

A video from Naval News of a Philippine frigate
what I noticed in the video at 0:50 is a placate on the wall with a drawing of the ship, some looks like a Shipbucket drawing that have been adjusted for. Find it a bit cool that the Navy that are using that ship is also using the same drawing as base
