Slava-class Cruiser "Moskva" have had an incident. Confirmation on what have happen is unclear.

It is reported fire and ammunition detonation, onboard the ship.

There is talk about the ship was hit by 2 Ukrainian Neptun missiles, ut it haven't been confirmed by other sources as of yet.

Pentagon is confirming that "Moskva" haven't sunk, and is moving to Sevastopol for repairs, they can confirm something have happened but not what.

(If I was to speculate, it was either hit by a missile or 2. Or one of it's missiles exploded during launch, something that have happened on other ships and submarines, If it's one of it's canisters, then I would speculate that the hatch didn't open, but there should be "safe-guard" system, but we have seen incidents on older Russian/Soviet submarines with big missile silos)

Russia and BBC, and many other media, is now confirming that she have sunk, due to combination to hull damage, stability problems and bad weather. During towing

An article states that the CinC Black Sea Fleet, ADM Osipov, has been 'detained'. I expect to hear of his 'resignation' due to 'health issues' any day now.

And apparently Defense Minister Sergei Shogyu has suffered a 'heart attack', which is why he hasn't been seen lately. I expect to hear of his posthumous promotion to Marshal of the Russian Federation after they 'lost him on the operating table' due to 'complications during surgery'.

No, no, no: she is definitely sinking due to bad weather, can't you see the height of the huge waves crashing against her hull........... :?

Joke aside, what's more embarrassing:
- lose a ship under enemy fire in a war situation ?
- or lose a ship through the incompetence of its crew?

The last one. The way to go for sinking ships and especially groups of ships was to launch dozens if not hundreds of missiles and overwhelm any and all systems that was in place for defense. If Ukraine did indeed swarm the ship with drones and hit it with two missiles, then this is merely a twist on a decades old tactic.

If the ship sank due to incompetance, then it shows that even the flagship was crewed by conscripts that recieved no training whatsoever, or are so indifferent to the political climate that none care. Having untrained sailors and defective equipment and losing a major ship to that is far more embarassing than a tactic/twist of a tactic that is known to work and has no real counter.

HMS Sheffield sunk under similar, if not identical, circumstances.

The 1164's have a similar capability air defense fit as the T42s. It's not exactly a modern vessel lol.
