Interesting take on the County class B.B.

I like the clean lines compared to the more bluff looking Counties. Certainly enough armament aboard to be more than useful.

Do you have a clean drawing of the GDM-C?

Ask and ye shall receive. I'm pretty sure ace had put it in the below-decks thread when he did it but seems not.

I don't have belowdeck parts for this gun, so it isn't there :P (it might be that it has none though)

I like it too. A nice take on the County.
I suppose a nice what-if had Britain had the dollars to spend in the 50s/60s.

Not a drawing but a change of sorts!

Royal Galenian Air Force Update

Due to the escalating belligerence shown by the Russian government and repeated encroachments into Galenian airspace the Ministry of Defence has authorised the procurement of a further 16 Eurofighter Typhoons and 80 new Boeing Slam/Strike Eagles. This comes at a time of uncertainty for the RGAF which having just cancelled commitment to the F-35 was to be without 48 or more aircraft once the F-16-30 fleet retires in 2018.
Given that there is already an open production line for the Eagle in Tol Galen it is estimated that the first new-build aircraft could be ready for testing by the end of the year, production of components in both Tol Galen and the US means that lead times can be drastically cut whilst keeping both lines open, it has also been suggested that as a further lifeline to F-15 production that RSAF aircraft be split between the two lines.
This massive investment in the RGAF comes at a time where all three services are having money pumped into them by the new coalition government. It is envisaged that by 2020 the combined fighter and strike force will consist of the following.

200x F-15 Sneak Eagles (80 new-build + 120 upgraded to common standard under Project Thunderbird)
128x Typhoon Tranche 2 (To common standard under Project Horizon)
72x Typhoon Tranche 3
96x F-16-50 (Nearing OSD of 2023)
120x F-16-50+ (Upgraded under Project Firebird)

The active pool should be around 520 aircraft with most of the F-16-50s already being sidelined by this date.

No new ships, just some reorganising of ground forces, trimming the fat and what not.

Image

Yellow denotes the Active Force IE the cutting edge of the Galenian ground-based component,
Orange denotes a unit of the Active Reserves which encompass ex-active duty personnel who retain a statutory liability for service and are liable to be recalled to active duty status during a time of need.
Red denotes a unit of the Volunteer Reserves which are the part-time military reserve force which consist of civilian volunteers who routinely undergo both training and live operations alongside the active force
There are also the Sponsored Reserves AKA civilian contractors who are employed for various non-essential tasks (mainly logistics) as well as some specialised active-duty tasks but these are not illustrated here.

For the army by itself there are around 355-360,000 men and women spread out between all four tiers.

At some point I need to group the various units into administrative or parent divisions. The ones that currently spring to mind are Guards, Irish, Mountain, Light and Mechanised Infantry and Armoured divisions...

Suitably amended from the earlier iteration of the design the support ship is back. This time suitably 'Nordicised' as per the original brief.

She's been stretched from 116 to 120 on the waterline, had some deck heightening where required and had her container deck reworked. Equipment also now fits with the Swedish vibe, at least partially.
I see this as a properly multi-role vessel for smaller nations, not too dissimilar from HMNZS Canterbury. Ideal for disaster relief and humanitarian efforts abroad whilst still offering some oomph.

Nice one. Looks similar to one I did for an Swedish support ship challenge.
