Hi cvbbdd,

I've done a drawing to show you what I meant:

Image

See how your turret has the guns more widely spaced on a smaller barbette? Because the turret's so short you can't fit in a bigger barbette, making the gunlaying very cramped.

Also, the AA cruiser looks formidable, but the turrets you've shown have significant deck penetration, I think. I'm not sure if you've left room for the engines on this design.

Adam

I am not sure which turrets are higher or lower than the others, but assuming there is a deck height difference implied by the color difference some of those turrets don't have room to rotate.

On the Heavy AA Cruiser, I don't think the 2 big turrets closest to the center can turn, or perhaps 20 degrees each side rendering them useless, because the cannons can't lower because of the other turret. I'd suggest removing those turrets.

Hi cvbbdd,

I *think* Fox meant your B and X turrets, which seem to be so close to your A and Y turrets, respectively, that they'll hit them when they try to turn, rather than your 5"/38 turrets.

As an AA cruiser, it should be able to make enough power to at least reach 30 knots, if not more, on a hull which seems to be 143m long and about 21m wide, it's probably requiring around 75,000-100,000+ horsepower to make speed, most likely either requiring a second funnel aft or a much larger and higher trunked funnel for the machinery.

I dont really see the point the waist single 5" guns, especially since you have 12 other 5" guns which could cover the same area instead.

Another thing that most certainly needs to be considered are directors and early radar, not to mention masts, mooring equipment, ventilation, navigation spaces, ship's boats and rafts, searchlights ETC, the list goes on. Some of these things will effect the placement or effeciency of a gun mount.
