Actually, there's were quite a few schemes for the Essex class.
βCloseβ only counts with horseshoes, hand grenades, and tactical nuclear weapons.

I've got a nitpick of my own. The Mk 38 directors shouldn't have the Mk 25 radar during World War II, by the point the ship being depicted was commissioned the directors were using the Mk 4/22 combination (at least, I think it's Mk 4/22)...
