Re: The Federal Monarchy Of Tol Galen
You haven't seen it because I've been working on it up until now! I may well enter it for South America though with some bits and pieces changed.
Revisions to the 1929s...

Something to ponder - Shown as ever on the eve of war, a provisional study of a Mod.1929 Treaty Cruiser. A Nottingham class if you will... (half way between a York and a Northampton!)
- 9,250t Standard
- 570ft*67ft*20ft ~WL
- 31kts Max. 15kt Long-range cruise.
- 10,000nmi cruising radius
- 100mm external belt over machinery and boilers
- 70mm internal boxes over magazines and barbettes
- 30-60mm deck plating
- 25mm closing bulkheads
- 25mm plating over bridges fore and aft
- 3*3 8"/50 of either French or British origin.
- 4*2 4"/45 (replaces earlier single mounts)
- 6*1 40mm/60 Bofors replacing single pom-poms
- 4*2 13.2mm Hotchkiss (later Browning) HMGs
- 2*3 550mm TT sets
- 1x Floatplane, in this case a Vindicator.
I'm not 100% happy with how they look but hey ho.
~Mark.
Also of note, their Mod. 1930 siblings!

Only two strong the subclass are built right up to 10,000t.
They differ from the 1929s in having the following changes to their statistics.
- 10,000t Standard
- 570ft*71ft*20ft ~WL
- 31kts Max. 15kt Long-range cruise.
- 10,000nmi cruising radius
- 120mm external belt over machinery and boilers
- 120mm internal boxes over magazines and barbettes
- 30-60mm deck plating
- 30mm closing bulkheads
- 25mm plating over bridges fore and aft

Impressive.
Re: The Federal Monarchy Of Tol Galen
Looks good to me and its a plausible line of development had triple 8in been introduced for further heavy cruisers during the 1930s.

Re: The Federal Monarchy Of Tol Galen
To complete the trio there's the skinny 1932 class which were built to a more restrictive tonnage to fall within treaty limitations.
Being skinnier than their sisters they had to reduce their armament down to 3*2 8"/50 resulting in something outwardly resembling a York. The downsizing also required some remedial work to the armouring scheme to cover differing magazine and machinery arrangements.
Their smaller tanks reduce their range by around a thousand miles at cruising speed but they've still got quite long legs. Like their sisters they maintain the same secondary armament and spotter.
These would be the only heavy cruisers commissioned before 1937 wherein two large cruisers would be constructed after Japan and Germany have given the world the middle finger, these would most likely retain the 3*3 8"/50 armament but on a substantially larger and better protected hull. With the onset of hostilities further heavies would be cancelled in place of spamming out super destroyers and large light cruisers.
Further edits:
1930s received better flag accommodation and torpedo control as well as an wholly internal inclined belt due to the extra beam.
Names and numbers...
Model 1929 Treaty Cruiser:
05/29 - TGS Durness
07/29 - TGS Inverurie
04/30 - TGS Stonehaven
09/30 - TGS Ascaig
Model 1930 Treaty Cruiser:
10/30 - TGS Windgap
03/31 - TGS Carrigeen
Model 1932 Treaty Cruiser:
03/32 - TGS Littleton
05/32 - TGS Woodfort
07/32 - TGS Ellendale
09/32 - TGS Scaranish
10/32 - TGS Hamilton
03/33 -TGS Campbeltown
With that, I believe the interwar heavies are almost done!

That's a very good series of drawings B.B.
Would the earlier Models get the updates to bring them up to the latest Mod.32 specs?

Re: The Federal Monarchy Of Tol Galen
To an extent possibly, though they are already all broadly comparable. The 1929s would probably receive the improved torpedo tower and some better accommodation for flag staff in line with the 1930s. The two 1930s would also be the first to receive radar and improved light AAA around the time of the Battle of Britain, the rest following suit between then and mid 1942.

Re: The Federal Monarchy Of Tol Galen
I would note that the 1932 Model seems to have had a revision to the old 8" turrets. Just a throwback to earlier times.
Re: The Federal Monarchy Of Tol Galen
They're twins to fall within harsher weight restrictions due to the shorter and narrower hull hence the older turret

Re: The Federal Monarchy Of Tol Galen
Originally I used Small Fonts at 7.5 now I use Dina at the same size which can be found on Da Font. After all the colouring and stuff has been done in excel I simply save them selections in paint.
