Just guessing, but smaller ammo capacity and a conventional turret would go a long way.
“Close” only counts with horseshoes, hand grenades, and tactical nuclear weapons.

Just wondering, does SPY-3 look that different from SPY-1? And can the MK. 26 fire a harpoon?

Mk 26 GMLS can fire Harpoon.

There are a couple of SAM missiles that I have seen around ship bucket that are not in any part sheets. And one of them looks like a small SM-3. I also heard of a SM-6.

SM-6 is externally identical to the SM-2ER Block 4.

I'd have to see the exact sam you are referencing to know what you are talking about.

Interesting. VLS seems entirely preserved. Laser subsystems housed in a hangar bay, maybe? Certainly Burkes don't have a ton of spare volume back there (or anywhere else).
