My interpretation of what a second generation F-22 would look like. Most of the changes compared to the current are internal and software related, as well as using diverterless inlets instead of the current design and an electro-optical targeting system similar to the F-35's.
Just a flight of fancy, I came up with the idea of creating a heavy self-propelled gun for the Royal Artillery of World War II. Maybe I need to get out more, I dunno...
The Friar, continuing the Commonwealth penchant for ecclesiastical artillery names, would just be a Valentine Mark I hull minus its turret with a BL 7.2" gun-howitzer mounted on the back. The only difference between the two versions would be that the Mark I utilised the original short-barrelled Mark I-Mark V guns that were re-lined WWI 8" howitzers; while the Mark II would mount the new-build Mark 6 that was roughly 2 metres longer. Far from being a perfect fit, this wartime kludge would of course suffer reliability problems but in my personal head canon, the Friar would remain in service until the M110 came along in the mid-60s, simply due to a lack of any alternative weapon system.
Hey, it's gotta be 5 o'clock somewhere...
Currently working on:
The October War, 27-10-1962 (apparently forever);
"Saxonverse" alt-UK; Federation of the Channel Islands AU;
Republic of Yopur & Andaman;
some sort of overarching AU;
Regaining my sanity.
A very nice idea and well drawn. A heavy SPG like this could have been quite useful during the latter stages of WW2.
Would this some kind of rear spade to cope with the recoil?

Hi, Llamaman. Very intresting heavy sp gun. As Hood had pointed, a spade will be very useful against the recoil. May I ask if you had considered to put the gun pointing to the rear? In that fashion, the gun will be over fighting and driving compartments, but not over the engine, so maybe (and just maybe), having more space for additonal ammo. Cheers.
Long time since I last posted my last crazy idea, so I hope Im posting in the right part of the forum . Heres another one lol.
I found on this forum a Tri747, so I double decked it xD
The concept behind this design is that this aircraft would be use on high density medium-range air routes.
