From-scratch Battleship

#111 Post by Navybrat85 »

Okay, working on the Tequilapoli AU, I'm trying to do the one ship that has vexed me forever...the TNS Victoria, Tequilapoli's flagship from 1940-1959.

Length, 817 feet

Beam: 110 feet

Draught: ~30 feet

Armament: (Set arms only)

12 x 14", 50 Caliber guns (4 x3)

20 x 105mm DP guns (10 x 2)

Projected additional weapons:

50-60 40mm AA

35-60 20mm AA

Image

Looking for some help. I keep thinking my superstructure looks way off for WWII, and perhaps a bit small compared to the rest of the ship.

you will want to put the SMART-L a lot further aft, because right now a huge block of it's forward view is blocked by the APAR. that (rhib bay?) gap in the hull is the worst idea possible, you will have waves flooding in and of course an huge lack of strength in your hull.
the funnel and intake look a tad small for an full gas turbine plant, for CODAG or CODOG it works though.
also, may I point at the (better looking) 4,5in gun in the RN thread, and ask what sonar that is supposed to be? (it looks like the one from the knox class, which was more then 2 times the size of the real thing, which I thus have redrawn yesterdat :P
Drawings are credited with J.Scholtens
I ask of you to prove me wrong. Not say I am wrong, but prove it, because then I will have learned something new.

THe sonar is one I pulled from the "Equipment" parts sheet and is probably antiquated at best, just there as a placeholder while I either find or draw and appropriate sonar system. As far as the RHIB Bay I was doubting that myself, but drew it anyways because...well, I'm just a goofy dude like that.

Still working on the machinery layout, so the stack might grow back to it's original size, and I'll get SMART-L moving astern soonly.

One downside to working at a Convenience Store 3rd shift---a lot of downtime where it's just you and your thoughts. With that in mind, I thought about what kind of small arms might be carried by the Tequilapolian Armed Forces.

Rifles
[*]M-14 Battle Rifle *Synthetic Stock after 1990*
[*]Mk. 14 EBR-Replacing M-14 at 10% per year, 2010-2020
[*]M40 Sniper Weapons System

Submachine Guns/PDWs
[*]UMP40-Federal Police Service Issue
[*]UMP45
[*]P90

Pistols
[*]HK USP .45 *standard sidearm*
[*]HK Mk. 23 *Naval Commandos, Special Tactics Teams
[*]SW Model 625-Ceremonial Sidearm for Officers and Senior Police Officials (.45 ACP)

Light Machine Guns
[*]FN Minimi
[*]M240G

Heavy Machine Guns
[*]M2HB Vehicles and some aircraft mountings
[*]T-15A5 *Vehicle/Aircraft mounted MG, chambered for 15x110mm QC, Air Cooled*
[*]GAU-19 shipboard and some aircraft mountings

I can't figure out from the 200+ views and 0 comments if I'm doing okay or if this is so out there it isn't worth comment.

It is showing now.

I am not an expert on battleships but.

- I would move funnels more forwards.
- the superstructure you have will add a lot of top-weight.

I just hope those other people will comment soon!

Thanks, Heuhen for the input. I might also rearrange the 4.1" battery onto the sides. If I do that, I can bring the main bridge down a level, remove the open platform and bring down the armored conning tower.
