His what-ifs inspired me too. Fair winds and following seas.

Re: Nihon Kaigun 1946
I sent him this thread's drawings of any ships from "Furashita's Fleet" some time last year...I hope he got to see them and liked them.
Re: Nihon Kaigun 1946
This is quite a quite a loss. My first introduction to never were designs was on his website. He will be missed
"All men dream, but not equally. Those who dream by night in the dusty recesses of their minds wake in the day to find that it was vanity, but the dreamers of the day are dangerous men, for they may act their dreams with open eyes, to make it possible. This I did." Thomas Edward Lawrence, The Seven Pillars of Wisdom

Sad news indeed. I, myself had a great regard for his site, in fact one of my first naval bookmarks
. He will be sorely missed.

Very sad news, I remember well his "Furashita's fleet", many years ago, when I was younger too...
Rest in peace, "admiral".
Re: Nihon Kaigun 1946
Furashita's fleet was my first experience in the never-were community as well. This just absolutely sucks.

Re: Nihon Kaigun 1946
Another IJN contributor has left us. For those who frequent the j-aircraft.com IJN message board, or the Tully's Board on combinedfleet.com, Mr. Bill Somerville passed away on 29 March 2013 of a heart attack. I knew Bill from my years of IJN research, and he helped me out immensely with photos and CO research. He will be deeply, deeply missed.
