Should bring some decent work to Williamstown, not much has gone on there now for a number of years.

Largest vessels the RAN will have had, though I still reckon the CVL HMAS Melbourne had much better lines.

It does seem about as graceful as a shipping crate.
“Close” only counts with horseshoes, hand grenades, and tactical nuclear weapons.
That which does not kill me has made a grave tactical error

All the "official" info says she is only going to operate helicopters, but that ski jump screams jets.

Not going to happen. Unless they are visiting USMC AV-8B or F-35B. It was cheaper to retain the original Spanish design with ski jump, as opposed to redesigning and removing it. There were also some structural issues as well.

The only aircraft that we will embark be NH-90, Tiger and maybe a CH-47F.

Indeed. The RAN currently has no plans to operate fixed wing aircraft from these ships however nice the thought.

The RAAF will eventually be getting F-35s however so that does leave the tantalizing thought that our Navy might get a few one day... just dreaming again. Our Government can't stop bickering like schoolyard pre-teens, yet alone make an important and logical decision like that.

The new Australian shipbuilding paradigm built one half of a ship in Spain then move it half way around the world to finish it I wonder why its never been done for ?
