$1.45 million for each Tomahawk. He is not to hard on this design, he is very polite and nice on this design. I think it will be cheaper to build ... a DEATH STAR !!!

EDIT: It's only a $852,000,000,000,000,000 cost.

I don't think the other guy took into account the cost of paying, feeding and traing the 625,000 sailors, chiefs and officers it would take to crew those ships. Modestly it would cost about $37,500,000,000 USD a year just to pay them. Then if we are talking about a blue water engagement, to get those ships on station will require at least 2 RAS. That would be about $13,040,000,000 USD just to get ships on station. And all those harpoon missiles are about $1,200,000 USD a piece.

but thats all small change considering each Burke would cost about $1,000,000,000 USD to produce for a total of $2,500,000,000,000 USD. Even if you manage to guild 100 ships per year, it would take 25 years to get the 2500 ship fleet envisioned in that scenario, by the time you were ready to launch the harpoon from hell offensive, most of the ships would be nearing the end of their service life.

I'm just saying, I think he is getting a bargain considering his initial investment would ensure the total anhillation of his enemies.

Like the other guy who don't take into account a lots of other things in his "arsenal ship" ? If we hit a reality fan it will blow off both ideas in a sec.

Buying a ship for 250 bln USD is supposed to be a bargain?
I'd say: get a fleet of, say, 300 B-52 bombers (or their equivalent, note - we're talking about relatively simple aircraft, not some fancy B-2). Each of them with 20 Cruise missiles, that gives 6000 missiles in one salvo plus several reloads. I guess it could fit below 250 bln USD price bracket (assuming that both the producers and buyers' project managers aren't the same ones that are leading JSF programme ;) ), would be more elastic in their use, wouldn't need more crews and support staff then 250 Burke DDG's (even with air refueling aircraft) plus they would be available relatively quickly (in reality it took 6 years to get B-52 from signing the contract to flying the prototype, next 2 to start production and next 8 to make 744 of them, so less then half of that number could take proportionately less time).

Thats the point i was trying to make. The design is flawed and easily sinkable. But sometimes its fun to let our imaginations run wild.
