Sad and stupid, I wish they had decided to downsize the Trident missiles instead

Trident is by far the most effective defense element that the UK has in its entire military and the most "tolerable" one from the viewpoint of cost-effectiveness and the non-profitability of defense expenditure.

Might be good at that but a carrier is more versitile

As came up in prior threads, Ark is in bad shape, and needs a refit that money isn't there for.

Ark royal in bad shape?
She looks damm good to me at the picture's.
Might change when i see her in real life in december this year.
Will be my first trip in the dutch navy, and for the first time i see a non american carrier...

The pictures are the outsides and a fresh coat of paint does wonders. Her machinery electronics, and other equipment is worn out, and second hand rumors are that she's a very unhappy ship right now.

Are the last ship of the class the HMS Illustrious (Invincible are already decommissionned), will be also decommissioned soon? :o
