HIMS Moon-and-Star
Large fleet carriers in the same vein as the Midway and Malta classes, these four ships completed post-war formed the backbone of the Californian Navy from 1947 until the early 1990's, with several major refits in the intervening time. This drawing is of the ships as they entered fleet service in late 1947-early 1948.

Replacements for the Queen of Sky class, these five ships (plus one additional for the RNZN) entered service beginning in the 2015 timeframe. Intended to operate 12 x Sea Gripen, 10 x Chinook ASW in normal operation.
Re: The Isle of California
Voyager - one thing I missed when you ran this past me was the lack of AEW birds on the new CVL. I know you don't want to use Hawkeyes, so an upgraded Tracer or an AEW Chinook would work.
Edit: Ok, I get your reasoning now.

HIMS Vigilant
Lead ship of a class of eight, laid down between 1926 and 1929, these (admittedly overweight) Washington Treaty cruisers served the Californian navy throughout the Pacific War, heavily engaged on all fronts from the declaration of war on behalf of the Allied Powers until Japan's negotiated surrender. Mounting eight 20cm guns in four two-gun turrets, they were 'average' cruisers, and treaty-busting gained the Californians little, much of the weight being taken up in a 'conventional' protective scheme, in comparison to the various ingenious methods used by other powers.

An update of the original Type 12-based design, to take advantage of newer drawings and an evolving understanding of ship systems.

I'll say again what I said before - it's damn Cute, and functional.

It's rather large period for a frigate. What's the Type 12 again? The Rothesary class?

Re: The Isle of California
The Type 12 was the Whitby. My apologies, I should have said Type 12I, or the Leander class.
