Well, all that extra muscle is going to hit the range quite a bit though.
“Close” only counts with horseshoes, hand grenades, and tactical nuclear weapons.
That which does not kill me has made a grave tactical error

For the Record, the Centaurus looks like shit on the Curtiss P-46, but I'll post Radials of the P-46.

Seems like it worked pretty well for him.

On Tank's theory, to little too late.

Well it's what he did with the Fw-190 (Vs and As) and that worked out fine so not all that late.

You know, radial engines weren't necessarily all that unaerodynamic if you apply the proper cowling. Of course, you'll be hitting hard cooling issues, and those are the very definition of anti-fun.

And I'm unconvinced about the weight issue either especially given the absence of a cooling system (though, see above).

So I take it that in this particular scenario the flying flapjack never existed?

oooo i would love to see that sorry to make a request but that plane had some serious potential its sad that the jet engine made it essentially outdated. However piston engined carrier aircraft would continue to serve for years. Anychance we will see the crusader 3 at one point too while i realize that both were real designs I'm sure some interesting version and paint jobs for them could be made
