Re: LRAM INC. Zweihander-Class Battleship
But imagine the recoil of the firing which would need a few feet of recoil back into the turret, that's going to make it very difficult

No, just makes folding extremely difficult

If you're shooting guided shells you shouldn't even bother with a turret!

...wut?furturewar wrote: I ran this through SpringSharp
What I really want to know is how you've managed to avoid breaking SpringSharp with this thing.
Also thank you for introducing me to the OSV-96 which is quite possibly the stupidest real-life weapon I've ever seen. I have to wonder why the Russians didn't just copy the GM-6, which is not only a bullpup weapon (which makes it shorter right off the bat) but you just lock the barrel into full-recoil position for easy transport, making it maybe half the length of the OSV-96 when it's "folded".

Re: LRAM INC. Zweihander-Class Battleship
You can't compare small arms and naval artillery. The forces, masses and pressures involved are so much greater that most of the construction methods used on small-arms simply don't work. In this case it's going to be impossible to get a tight seal between the barrel and the breach. Constructing a mechanism capable of folding the barrel is a major technical challenge in itself. And even then it's going to take a long time to fold and unfold. I wouldn't be surprised if either action takes an hour or more.
“Close” only counts with horseshoes, hand grenades, and tactical nuclear weapons.

Re: LRAM INC. Zweihander-Class Battleship
There is a significant difference between small arms and naval guns. That is about the same as comparing a fircracker to a 500Kg bomb.furturewar wrote:Think of it like the Russian Sniper Rifle, the OSV-96. That barrel folds and fires just fine.
Where did you get the "expanding the hull" statement? I don't think i ever said anything about expanding the hull...
And you already have "expanded the hull". You seem to think that taking a Zumwalt and making it 200+ meters long will yield identical results. No. That doesn't work.
This design is fundamentally unworkable. You say you ran it through springsharp and that it is "floatable". So? Driftwood is floatable, but that doesn't make it a warship.

I understand that you're 15 and by definition stupid, but come on.

That is two 16" guns from the Iowas put together trying to lob cargo into orbit, designed & built by Gerald Bull in the US before he went to work for Ol' Saddam.Rodondo wrote:What IS that?!SHIPDUDE wrote:
