Now it looks like an oversized destroyer with an armored belt. You could go back and replace the forward twin 40mm with a twin 5" gun and move the aft 40mm forward to make room for another twin 5" gun.

Your depth charges are badly situated, as when thrown overboard, they will sink rapidly and explode under the aft part of your ship, damaging, if not destroying, the propellers and rudder. There is a reason why on all WW2 ships the depth charges are in the stern.

She doesn't much look like a US Destroyer, but she does have the feel of an interesting- and actually somewhat logical- development of the Erie class gunboat.

For some critiques:
1.) I would raise the spotlight platform at least one deck.
2.) More AA in the 40mm range, less small or large AA guns.
3.) Might include a larger ship's boat.

If this is an American destroyer, then you should alter the hull a lot.

1) Get rid of two of the aft 20mm guns and relocate the depth charge throwers there.
2) Shorten the hull – Get rid of the empty space where the depth charges were.
3) Change the bow – its very German looking.

Look closely at the propeller: It seems you have moved it, but forgot to move the whole of it.
Also your armour belt should be moved aft a bit, to cover the after gun mounting

I'd change the bow to a more classic US-cruiser bow; it does seem to warrant that, in its overall style. Also the stern is not very much USN-looking. Take a second look at the US navy-ships already made and, especially the cruisers, and, in particular the US Northampton-class made by Brockpaine. That might give you some ideas! Also, you might want to alter the funnels to resemble US practice. - And please use the latest USN parts sheet for the boats! This drawing deserves a much better and detailed boat stowage than the rudimentary one you've got! And, remember to include at least one personnel boat (motorboat!)

Now, this looks very American to me! Also I admire the graceful proportions of the hull. What I would want to add is a 32 ft covered personnel motorboat just beneath the sailing cutter. You can do that by simply deleting the MGs! It certainly would create a much more purposeful appearance to an already graceful design!
