Re: The Great Democratic kingdom caledonia
The Old lady!
It was only built one ship in the C-class, and it was the prototype. The prototype was eventually part of Caledonia navy. Most ships of this class were built for other nations, but some were built under license. The design and weapons / radar on these boats vary from nation to nation.
The prototype was named "Admiral" but was eventually nicknamed "The cruise ship" when she almost never was in action, only on long trips to warmer regions. But the biggest action she was involved in was when she came under attack by Israeli patrol boats. In that situation she could have just driven from them, but after consulting with the government, "admiral" sank these patrol boats, the admiral came out of this situation with minor damage.
Situations she has been involved in:
-Under escort of an aircraft carrier, an unknown submarine was getting to close and had to be chased.
-Under the patrol of the northern sea borders, she almost open fire on a Soviet cruiser.
-Come attacked by three Israeli patrol boats, sank two of them.
-On the way back to Caledonia through the Mediterranean, she came under attack by a Libyan ship. "Admiral" opened fire with her 135mm cannon and sank her.[/list]
-fire support during an invasion.
C-class
Length: 147m
Beam: 17.8m
propulsion: steam turbines 95,000 hp at maximum overload (Only for 30 min), 85,000 hp standard.
top speed: standard: 35 knots, 39+ at maximum overload.
continuous top speed: 32 knots
Range: 13000 at 21knots, 6200 at 32 knots
Armarment:
2 * Twin 135mm gun
Sea Sparrow
Harpoon cruise missil
MK 13 GMLS with RIM-24 Tartar
2 * triple TT
since some of these ships were built under license, so ... you are allowed to create yours version of how one of these license-built ships could have looked like

Re: The Great Democratic kingdom caledonia
inspiration taken from the dutch tromp class?
anyways, interesting ship, the only real problem I see with her is the WM-25... it's radar now sends radiation to the bridge.
also, why do you have 2 (search, I think) radars? if one of them is an targeting radar I would replace the WM with another SPG.
and I don't know about the powerplant... why funnels on top of the structure and in the sides? especially the aftmost puzzles me, as that would mean that your engine curved around the MK 13

I ask of you to prove me wrong. Not say I am wrong, but prove it, because then I will have learned something new.

Re: The Great Democratic kingdom caledonia
yes I was a little inspired. but so is the "Tromp" in a strange way a beautiful ship.inspiration taken from the dutch tromp class?
I saw a bit on the trumpet, but I see now that it is placed a little differently, so I'll throw her up on the roof.anyways, interesting ship, the only real problem I see with her is the WM-25... it's radar now sends radiation to the bridge.
Hm... yes i forgot that, radar hade that capability so i'll fix thatalso, why do you have 2 (search, I think) radars? if one of them is an targeting radar I would replace the WM with another SPG.
it was more intended as a secondary exhaust system. engine room located in the middle of the ship below the main chimney, but the pipes of the secondary exhaust from generators and stuff like that goes along the side and out a little bit away from the engine room, so if a heat-seeking missile hit her it will hit her there and not where the engine room is. Strange or what ...and I don't know about the powerplant... why funnels on top of the structure and in the sides? especially the aftmost puzzles me, as that would mean that your engine curved around the MK 13
and for the chimney on top of the superstructure, I tried to get to a normal stack, but I did not get it to be correctly or fit in the ship's design.

I liked the previous funnel more and I suppose the aft radar is an targeting radar?

Re: The Great Democratic kingdom caledonia
Possibly the largest naval cannon in Caledonia, if not the military decide to use one of the large land-based artillery cannon.
And here we have the Knight class, possibly the only ships in the Navy, which is big enough to support the weight of the cannon. note I have moved one the VLS further back, so she should not be to bow heavy. but you will feel the weight of that cannon on the ship seakeeping (prossibly).

As far as I can read you never tell us which calibre it is.
“Close” only counts with horseshoes, hand grenades, and tactical nuclear weapons.

Re: The Great Democratic kingdom caledonia
oh i forgot that. My plan was that the cannon should be 205mm but I wonder if I have to be satisfied with 180/190mm, so yes the caliber is big!Thiel wrote:As far as I can read you never tell us which calibre it is.
