Great Britain - AU
Please bear with me, this is my very first attempt at anything more one ship at a time.
Firstly the back story - as it is in my mind I would welcome some help to make it a bit more believable.
May 1st 1979. The East German reistence group Action 19 newley formed with the aim of reuniting Germany through force, planned its first attack. The mission centred on the killing of a KGB Captain by the name of Aloyna (meaning Light) on his way to start his new posting in a small town east of Berlin called Wemeuchen.
As the trucks with passed by on the road to Wemeuchen in the dead of night, explosives ripped through the 3 vehicles killing all in side them. As the Action 19 fighters converged on the vehicles they found no evidence of the KGB Captain, in an attempt to buy more time the 3 vehicles were pushed into the river that ran along side the road. Leaving the scene as quickly as they could, they melted into the country side.
This is what we have learned from evidence provided by Russia after the outbreak. The vehicles were carrying two viles of Russian Ebola-C a new Biopreparat centre creation. The weapon designed to targeted enemy water systems, the results can be seen in the map below. Much of Western Europe fell to the plague.
This is my Great Britain since 1979. Since the day Europe fell silent.

Duke Class - Already being talked about in 1979 as the future ASW project, the Duke Class was designed to replace the Leander Class Frigate. It was the 2nd Class to be redesigned to incorporate US designed Weapon systems. 14 delivered to RN between 1987 and 1996

Re: Great Britain - AU
It's actually reasonable, if 4 missiles exploded and were at ground level... Assuming the winds are going that way...
When the nuke goes off at ground level, it digs a massive crater, and everything that came out of the crater is blown into the air as radioactive dust (fallout). This can travel a massive distance, so your map is good (if that happens)
However, there are a lot of safeties so that nukes don't go off accidentally, ever. You can famously shoot them, burn them and drop them, and nothing happens....
Well, i suppose what you could have happen is an accident that results in the detonations of the conventional explosives. This would spread a lot of radioactive materials across a relatively big area. However it wouldn't be as big as what you have there....

Indeed. Missiles have safeties, they are unarmed when not used.
Arming nuclear missiles need's a password (i quess russian missiles to)
Arming Harpoons for other vision, needs a key to be activated.

Re: Great Britain - AU
If you are looking for realism, your best bet is the conventional explosives going off. Maybe a NATO spec. ops mission gone bad? or something like that...
Re: Great Britain - AU
so what we are saying is that if a large explosion happened - non nuclear it could possible trigger the nukes as they were being transported?

- Nuclear devices do not explode.
- They initiate
- Nuclear devices are temperamental, fragile things.
- To initiate and implosion device has to have the explosives go off in a precisely timed manner.
- Any deviation from the planned manner results in no nuclear event, or a very low yield fizzle (sub 1kt) at worst.
- Four devices of less than 500kt each wouldn't generate a plume that looks like that at all.
- The Plume you have there is wrong.
- Plumes are widest closest to the event and narrow as the further down-wind from the event you are.
- Exact shape of the plume depends on the Weather conditions at the time of the event.
- A Book titled The Effects of Nuclear Weapons is a good place to start.
- If you can find it, the 1962 edition is the best, and most accurate.

Re: Great Britain - AU
It will not trigger the nuke, but it may set of the explosives that are used to initiate a nuclear device. It's not much, but it's enough to spread the radioactive's over a good area.stan hyd wrote:so what we are saying is that if a large explosion happened - non nuclear it could possible trigger the nukes as they were being transported?
