Maybe rather shade them as You would any other sail and particular sections mark merely with not-too-distinct lines (like panel lines an an airplane). After all, as it is, this sail looks like there was no wind anyway, so particular sections would be flat too.

it's nice drawing, interesting that they had the sail formede out of several squares.

On one quadrireme I look at, for a fast check, looks like it have golden lines forming each square, and on another one I come over, it looks like each square looks like a bag/sail in it'self.

Some very beautiful work! The Mary Rose is super! I visited the museum in Portsmouth years ago. Your work really shows its original appearance!
