A very fine drawing of an incredibly flawed design.

I have offered my two pennies worth of thought over at Secretprojects, but this does look like an amateur design someone sent in to the Ministry and they soon filed it away.

So you think it was done without requisition from HQ as private idea?

Very curious design, a cruiser with a sailboat like hull. Perhaps her designer was drinking too much beer.

Hi,

thanks for the comments!

And probably loads of Panzerschokolade...

I know, I know... I had hoped I could slip this one past you... But that was of course impossible! ;)

That mistake was done intentional. There was simply no space to fit the AA-gun and the crane, while still leaving enough space to not hinder turret and catapult rotation.
I was trying to make the unworkable a bit more workable, you know... :)

I could try to fit smaller cranes, but I doubt I can find ones. After all, they had to be sturdy/large enough to lift 12tons+.

- 203mm triple turrets ;)
- newly designed main tower bridge & aft tower bridge ;)
Agreed, though I don't think the plan is "official" enough to show a new general way in German design-philosophy.

The designs are dated May-June 1940. The planes look like pretty generic twin-engined bombers. Went with Ju88s on my drawing.

I have little to say that hasn't been said. Absolutely pants-on-head crazy, to the extent we almost need another category besides "never built", but the drawing is delightful.

What are those “extra propeller blades” below the bow and the stern of this ship?

It's absolutely insane, but the drawing is excellent. :)

Nice drawing, interesting interpretation of the original plans.

I was working on a drawing of the designs myself for the past few weeks, so it looks like I wasn't fast enough. If you allow it, I may post my drawings here.

Hey DG,

sure thing! Would love to see what you make of this thing!

Btw: Thanks to the kind help of ace, I made some changes to the hull shading.
Still not 100% sure about the aft and bow sections, so I left them kind of like before...
