Shinshu Maru.

#1 Post by John_Wolff »

I wish someone would draw the Shinshu Maru. I can't find any descent drawings on the web.

Moving to general discussion as this is not a drawing post but rather a request post..

So darthpanda, are you being a sarcastic. I am not an artist. I was only making a request. If you were being sarcastic than it wasn't appreciated. I come here to enjoy the art work of others more talented and dedicated than I am.

Of course he wasn't being sarcastic, shipbucket is a simple and accessible style and format and if you want a ship being drawn there's no better option than giving it a try yourself. If you don't appreciate this then I have no better analogy to give you than some rando walking into an art school or club and asking people to paint whatever he wants.

Do you know what he was thinking. No you don't. My question was to him, not you. Butt out. And plenty of people have made requests for something to be drawn before on here so your analogy is crap.

Yes, plenty of people have made requests. In almost all cases, the reply was the same: if you want it drawn, and you want to be certain it is drawn, best draw it yourself.
Everyone here draws ships (or other stuff) as a hobby. You can of course request something, but unless you have somebody who had no plans what to draw and finds your proposal very interesting, nobody will listen to this request. In that way, I very much agree with Charguizards analogy.

You also made your very first post on shipbucket a request. People are much more likely to listen if you are already known, have contributed, or if you have already made some effort to contribute to shipbucket and it's community. Most people would just ignore our request, Darthpanda did something better: He gave you or whoever will at some point draw the ship an excellent reference.

So before you get or act annoyed over people here, please keep in mind how your own post is received by, as you call it, the 'others more talented and dedicated than you'.

Like I said, butt out. I'm sure darthpanda is quite capable of talking to me like an adult. I just asked if he was being sarcastic. Very simple question that he is more than capable of answering himself. I just laugh at all the social justice warriors on these forums. Always getting involved in other peoples stuff.

And that is another reason I put the idea of the Shinshu Maru out there. I think it would be an interesting drawing and hopefully it did spark someones interest. But I see how I have been recieved and the idea so it is what it is. I am not an artist and for him to put up a line drawing and say good luck when the post clearly said I would like to see someone draw said ship. That seems like it is sarcastic and I would have liked to be received in a little more friendly manner. No hello, how you doing or anything. So whatever.

Your first post here was a request, without providing sources, without providing any explanation. When somebody replies with a source so you can draw it yourself, you tell him that wasn't what you wanted. And when somebody explains to you why you are getting that reply, you reply with 'butt out'....... and you are worrying about being received in a friendly manner? Really?

First of all, nobody knows you are not an artist and have no intention of trying to be. You joined a community dedicated to ship drawing, and the only thing we know about you is that you wanted to see this ship drawn. Darthpanda provided you with the most effective solution to this problem. If you decide not to do anything with that, that's your choice, but that doesn't make his reply sarcastic or useless. In addition, whatever the lettering of your text, you posted it in the shipbucket drawing section, suggesting you were going to draw this ship. Note the descriptions of these sections of the forum: they all start with "post drawings ..."

And social justice warriors? Not at all. Charguizard and I are just fellow shipbucket artists who agreed with Darthpanda's reply, and offer further explanation when you didn't seem to understand it fully. If you wanted only him to reply, you should have send an PM instead.
