Interesting ships - they look to be very capable vessels in their initial guise; ample ASW, AAW and SSW capability on a single platform. And with three or four ASW/AEW helicopters... These would have given NATO a belter of a headache - imagine being a US or British SSN coming up against a soviet surface group built around one of these...
