Re: Arleigh Burke Flight III - 3D concept
Hate to necro, but Nepster's work inspired my own:
https://3dwarehouse.sketchup.com/model/ ... -Burke-WIP
https://3dwarehouse.sketchup.com/wareho ... 247058a87a
"An Arleigh Burke-derived replacement for the Ticonderoga-class cruiser
based on the 90s Destroyer Variant (DDV) study's high-end proposals.
A possible Future Surface Combatant using components already in use,
inspired by the DDX program, Atago-class, and Type 055/Renhai-class.
Modifications from the existing Flight IIA hangar-equipped design:
•reinforced hull plug amidships (additional stores, hydrodynamics)
•flush-deck helipad+hangar, auxiliary craft stored in enclosed bays
•AN/SPY-6 (+X-band), Advanced Enclosed Mast/Sensor (AEMS)
•128 (4x32) Mark 57 peripheral VLS cells abreast of the funnels
•155 mm Advanced Gun System instead of 5" gun for BVR NGS"
A Burke-based cruiser to replace the Ticonderoga using Zumwalt tech.

Tried to drop CoG, stick with a more traditional cruiser layout

Odd, they work on my end; are you talking about NepsterCZ's posts or mine?
His are stored on DeviantArt and mine are on the Sketchup 3D warehouse, so the links shouldn't be broken.
At any rate, just google his username and you'll find his DA profile and most of his Burke work, whereas the link in my first post should still be valid...

it's in your end, using Sketchup 3D warehouse doesn't work as a img-link. you see it, because it's your post, but we can't see it.tempzeta wrote: ↑September 29th, 2018, 7:56 pmOdd, they work on my end; are you talking about NepsterCZ's posts or mine?

Re: Arleigh Burke Flight III - 3D concept
it's like you have posted a link directly from your computer, it work there, even when you are logged out of from the warehouse, since it will just pick up the last stored information from your computer.
Just use a normal img host, like deviantart or imgur, I like imgur due to you can fast load up an img and get the correct direct link to that file, a img link that works

Do the public urls I added without formatting not show anything on your end?
aslo, testing embed:

Re: Arleigh Burke Flight III - 3D concept
I guess BBC doesn't support embedding elements...at any rate, I swapped in Imgur links for my old posts.
If the Atago- and Maya-class aren't too top-heavy and the hydrodynamics of a stretched Burke hull can work
with the mass of the DDR concepts' monolithic stealthy superstructures,
then my concept should be stable while maintaining a reasonable draft (haven't run the numbers in Delftship yet).
The only questionable design choice I made would be putting the Mark 57 peripheral VLS in the superstructure
as it would be less accessible for underway replenishment and make the exhaust/intake ducting a bit cramped,
but I wanted to consolidate systems and free up space in the hull for a more modular, less distributed layout.
It isn't unprecedented, as the Canadian Halifax-class frigates have something similar (albeit at a smaller scale).
