This was an interesting challenge and certainly resulted in a range of very interesting designs.

I cannot say I'm not feeling honoured by winning this contest as well, but I have to be completely honest, this win took me by complete suprise. I thought and I still think that there are almost half-a dozen works (Garlic, Grumpykestrel, Charguizard, Rodondo and wb21) that are definitely more worth than mine. I played safe after all.

Congratulations to BB1987, on his first place, as it was an interesting contest, with a lot of very good, and good looking drawings and ships.
I'm pleased to have taken a part, as warships are now mostly a thing of the past (evident by my merchant ships drawing, and almost no participation in any warship designs thread), but this contest was for me a chance to test the helicopter destroyer idea (not an original one, mind you), and hence my contribution.
So, well done BB1987, and thank you to all who submitted and of course not to forget the judges.

Congratulations to BB1987 and the other entrants and many thanks to the judges for the feedback. Speaking of which...I wonder if I could trouble the latter with a few questions, in an effort to improve my efforts.

1. It seems I've been working to an outdated style. Portholes are now 1-3-1 rather than the old 2-4-4-2, correct? And are there any other major stylistic issues I fell foul of?

2. Shigure: you disliked my green hull...was it the concept, or the shade I used?

Sorry to be bugging you guys for more, but understanding where I'm going wrong is really useful to me!

I got the vibe of a modern day civilian ship, rather than a warship. The color doesn't suite its role imho

Congrats BB, it was an awesome piece of work.

Looking things over, I think Rodondo's Lancaster could easily have been made slightly more practical if he'd used the fuckhueg Sea Slug magazine as a basis for his hangar. It would have entailed lowering the landing pad one level, but it would have freed up a lot of space.
As it is there's a HUGE landing pad for two small helos.
