HMS Queen Elizabeth (R08)
Evening folks,
HMS Queen Elizabeth as she'll look later this year as she heads out to the States to land F35 on for the first time, which explains the lack of weaponry (Also, I'm waiting for them to be fitted to make sure I put them in the right place ) For such a new and important ship for the RN, the amount of good reference graphics/plans etc is disappointingly small (had to get the prop arrangement from a '£3bn CARRIER LEAKING' graphic from an article in the Daily Mail ), so some of it is educated guesswork - luckily there's loads of good photos around, which helped above the waterline no end. Having spent a fair while drawing her, the design is gradually growing on me ... I just wish we'd gone CATOBAR and nuclear though! Standard budget problems I could vent my feelings about the carrier procurement for a long old while, so I'll avoid that as far as possible.
... I plan to stick some aircraft on there as well and may look into doing a deck plan at some point, but I'm pretty done with this ship for a while! My laptop needs to go in for a repair so it might take a couple weeks to make her into an actual 'aircraft carrier' (by which I mean dig through the forums for an up-to-date F35B that would fit ... ) Pretty standard in the UK to complain that the ships have no aircraft so thought I'd go with the flow.
I had to tweak the template ever so slightly to fit her draught, but she's a big old girl in fairness.
Be interested in your feedback! I'll do my best to accomodate any changes/improvements your eagle eyes can spot.

Very cool drawing.

...This is a masterful drawing. I am not well-equipped to judge RN vessels from a technical standpoint, but from everything I know this is fabulous.

Fantastic drawing!
Re: HMS Queen Elizabeth (R08)
This is fantastic work and one that we've waiting a long time for. Crazyhorse's CVF drawings were done a long, long time ago.
I agree with the lack of good sources apart from photos and you've done a really great job.
Stylistically I would say the overhang shading might be a touch too dark.
I know some will raise an eyebrow at the panel lines but I think it looks superb. I have to say that of all your excellent works, this is the finest you've done.

Superb work in this carrier, well done!
All we need now is some F-35B in SB-scale for her deck.

Ooh, didn't see this coming! That said, I'm not a fan of the panel lines and as hood mentions, the shading is perhaps a little extreme but otherwise it seems top notch.
