It is unbelievable how long these WW2 planes survived in Central America.

YF-15:

Updated with several additional prototypes and their paint schemes.

YF-16:

I debated giving the YF-16 CCV its own image but decided against it since the RCAF evaluated the aircraft without its canards, CCV scheme and all.

YF-17
Image
As far as I can tell, this is the only complete collection of all of the two aircrafts' schemes on the Internet, with a few minor exceptions like the Edwards AFB scheme having a flag at some point. The third row are not actual F-18Ls, but rather the YF-17 as it was being evaluated by several other nations.

YF-18A:

F/A-18A prototypes 1-3 as well as the first TFA-18A prototype. #3 is notable for being the first F/A-18 to land on a carrier.

Its really great to see these prototypes depicted, all too often we ignore the prototypes but often they are the most interesting given the difference between them and the eventual production airframes.

That and too often the demonstrator colour schemes were short-lived and sometimes little publicised.

I distinctly remember applying all of those decals to my YF-22 model kit as a kid :)

Very happy to see this one.

A few misc schemes
F-117A "Toxic Death":
Image
A unique "scheme" worn by F-117A #781 as it was being transferred to the National Museum of the USAF. Since the aircraft had to be stripped of its radar coating before being put on display, it was media-blasted with sodium bicarbonate crystals which were incredibly hazardous to the crew that had to do it. They ended up dubbing the aircraft "Toxic Death" and spray painted the name along with a skull and crossbones and “Ray Who?” on the body before it was repainted matte black at the museum.
