Blue Steel I-401 Redux

#1 Post by ABetterName »

"Wer mit Ungeheuern kämpft,
mag zusehn, dass er nicht dabei zum Ungeheuer wird.
Und wenn du lange in einen Abgrund blickst,
blickt der Abgrund auch in dich hinein"
- I-401's motto seen on the port side of her sail

Having extensive modifications from the Fog's standard I-400 class attack submarine, I-401 housed the most powerful processor core of any Fog submarine, capable of managing weaponry usually only possible for flagships. She was the first vessel in the Fleet of Fog to create a Mental Model, and was one of the first Fog vessels to appear.

I-401, along with her Mental Model Iona and her Human crew would gain fame and infamy under several names, including "The Blue Steel", "Battleship Killer", and "Traitor".

Serving as Humanity's last hope against the omnipresent Fleet of Fog, she would be instrumental in the survival of the Human species itself. Surmounting any odds, in battle or in diplomacy, mostly thanks to the genius and cunning of both her Mental Model and her captain, Gunzou Chihaya.

She would sink the Fog battleships Hyuuga and Kongou, the cruisers Nagara, Haguro, Ashigara, and Nachi, the submarines I-501 and Milchkuh, and she would be critical in the sinking of the battleships Haruna and Kirishima.

AWESOME!!! I was just expecting the cruise mode, but you went above and beyond and drew the graviton cannon mode as well! Incredible work! Will we see I-400 and I-402 also?

Nope, I have a policy of only drawing vessels that I like, otherwise I can't draw them to a proper level of quality.

wouldn't it just be literally just a color palette change and different tribal tattoo-ish hull markings? Although to be honest I don't really remember anything from the show so I could be wrong in my assumption
What I like to work on/plan to work on:
US ship Proposals and prototypes
Other ships that haven't yet been put up on Ship bucket
Suggestions Welcomed

Currently working on:
Heavy Cruiser Proposal CA-B: ~80% done.
Heavy Cruiser Proposal CA-C: ~5-10% done.
Heavy/Large Cruiser Proposal CA2-D: ~35% done.
FD Scale P-51A Dazzle Camo Livery: ~5-10% done.
Getting better: Always being worked on.

Finished:
FD Scale P-51D's Dazzle Camo Livery (might be redone)
FD Scale P-51D's German Captured Livery

I haven't actually drawn Iona as she appears in the anime, though.
