Re: Royal Netherlands Navy 1860-1945 Project
if it did, then its ok, but Didn't the ship serve mainly with British forces during the occupation?
Re: Royal Netherlands Navy 1860-1945 Project
yes, that's true. But most guns carried on Dutch were from German orign or from 1919 or 1923. Later British guns were used. Most modern ships got modern Bofors though, when build after 1934.Gollevainen wrote:if it did, then its ok, but Didn't the ship serve mainly with British forces during the occupation?

Re: Royal Netherlands Navy 1860-1945 Project
The ship was used for convoy duties in the Northern Atlantic and so also served with Dutch Mechant ships.
She was converted to MAC Carrier in the UK and served with a Dutch crew. The planes were from the No. 860 (Dutch) amd 861 (Dutch) Squadrons. The planes did sink one submarine which later unfortunately turned out to be the Free French submarine "La Perle". It was converted back at RDM Rotterdam after May 30th, 1945 (then it was teken out of active service) and finally scrapped at Hong Kong in 1958. the armament was British 1 x 4 inch (102 mm) HA/LA, two 40 mm Bofors, six 20 mm Oerlikon and held 4 Swordfishes.

I already know the answer, but I haven't post the new drawing yet.

Nice Alex, but the propellers look too modern for this ship.
Thank you Kim for the crest
