I'm sure that could be arranged though it'd be a bit of a step backwards, at least with regards to how VL-Sea Wolf is stowed. Exocets seem about as plausible as Sea Eagles to me especially as the development work was already done for surface-launching them unlike Sea Eagle which would require work and ergo money.

To my mind a 32 cell tactical length Mk41 (which this has) is the best compromise as it allows for a broad spectrum of weapon systems to be integrated with minimal developmental costs.

I may however knock up an austerity version with Sea Wolf and a 4.5 etc.

Not to bump myself or anything but the first post has been updated with all the finished drawings to date, neatly organised into categories.

With the standard VL-SeaWolf of real ships and the very good Sea Eagle launchers of Recherche AU. She can take twin double launchers like the RBS-15.

Well to be fair the only two missiles (to date) considered for use both for the existing Dukes and proposed Super Dukes have been Exocet and Harpoon.

I'm not really sure why you're so gong-ho on the Sea Eagle Odysseus considering it's never been been surface launched outside of a few tests and has largely been retired by the few nations who bought it.
“Close” only counts with horseshoes, hand grenades, and tactical nuclear weapons.
That which does not kill me has made a grave tactical error

Be that as it may Sea Eagle isn't going to be a viable proposal whilst there are existing MOTS solutions such as Harpoon and Exocet about.

That's a great collection of Super Dukes. A real treat to look at all of these and dream...

Cheers. Dreaming indeed. :|

Hopefully the final drawing to add to the collection.

An 'ideal' progression and MLU for the original Super Duke.

Image
  • Goalkeeper gets replaced sometime in the mid noughties with Seastreak
  • Harpoon receives block update to Block III standard by 2011
  • Mk.45 gains capability to employ guided rounds sometime between GW2 and Libya
  • DS30s are dropped in favour of MLG-27s seeing as the 27mm x145 is used elsewhere
  • Improvements to the towed array are undertaken on those vessels that have them
  • Post Libya they gain an at first austere but then useful capability to launch and recover UAVs in this case a generic ramp launched UAV standing in for Scan Eagle and Camcopters
  • The original Type 1007 / 1008 pairing gives way to Thales Variant and Surface Scout
  • Sea Archer gives way to LIROD Mk.2
  • The Centurions have a combination of Sea-Gnat, TALOS and Chimera decoys covering the IR, RF and a combined IR/RF decoy requirement
  • Artisan appears as OTL
  • ESSM replaces NSSM as ever with the possibility of switching to Active-ESSM in the future
  • SM-2 ends up at Block IIIA standard as well as gaining the MHIP upgrade
  • VL-Nulka appears to save coming up with a Centurion based solution
  • GL-SDB appears some time after Libya, probably rapidly fielded for Middle East ops
  • VL-ASROC is kept up to date but reduced in number to four per vessel
Anyhow, that's all for now.
