Sebu, I did some serious research, and found that the Draken and Mirage III came out around the same time. And technically the Mirage could have replaced both.

You could make the same point about the Gatling gun on the police version, but then we're talking about Hinds in UK service. Some allowances for rule of cool clearly has to be made.
“Close” only counts with horseshoes, hand grenades, and tactical nuclear weapons.

Anyway... Drop tanks and/or air-launched lifeboats. That and they serve an aerodynamic purpose, there's a reason why you don't see them without wings...

A 12.7mm x108 Gatling would not be idea for tear gas delivery. High velocity rapid-fire delivery of lead however it is indeed ideal for.
