Re: FD scale AU sci-fi
Hey everyone- first image posting here, looking for some constructive feedback. Please be gentle.
I asked PD permission to do a top view of his very well drawn Starfury, which he graciously allowed. Looking at reference material though created a problem. I did not find any good quality plans and screen shots from a show 20 years old are a bit....inconsistent. Size seemed to vary from about 9.5-10.5 meters in length (DP drew his to about 10.6m in length) and the engines on the wingtips varied in placement. In some reference material they are parallel to each other, while in others they are canted in slightly.
Anyways, as I said this is my first post and I'm overall pleased with the results of the craft itself. However, I'm sure my coloring/shading could use some improvement. Thoughts?

Other than your credits need work, not bad. Shading can be a bit tough, especially for a top view, which, btw, is best for the Starfury

Thanks NH. I did fudge the credits a bit. The top line is 10pt. arial and the bottom line is actually 8pt. I'm using MSPaint on Windows 8 if that has any bearing on it.
I'm going to go over it again in the next day or two, maybe re-do the coloring. Is there any pre-set "color tables" on the SB site that can help with shading and such?

On paint, its 10 for the label and 7 for the credits. Generally, we go with stuff like Earth Alliance, not EARTH ALLIANCE, get the idea? Also I use a Monochrome BMP for labels

Got it. Thanks for the tip. I'll have to revise those in the next edition.nighthunter wrote:On paint, its 10 for the label and 7 for the credits. Generally, we go with stuff like Earth Alliance, not EARTH ALLIANCE, get the idea? Also I use a Monochrome BMP for labels
If you're asking if I will do some of the "wing art" from the show- I hope to do 2-3 sets, plus maybe 1 or 2 of my own, just for variety's sake. But I'm really doing this as more of a learning exercise for myself. Once I'm happy with the image, I'll post a blank for anyone to use so they can do any wing art they desire.shippy2013 wrote:Will we be seeing some of the artwork applied to many fighters......

Re: FD scale AU sci-fi
Here is the revised edition. I am posting it without PD's side view, obviously, though I do not know if that's allowed. The top view is done entirely by myself and I only used DP's image for a scaling reference, so please advise if I should credit him.
Worked on the shading a bit to produce a blank copy to represent a factory-new craft. If I get good feedback on this, I might try my hang at one or two wing art designs but as I said before, this was really more learning exercise for me. Anyone who wants to take a shot at using this- feel free.
Thanks for all the good feedback.
