"Escort Battleships"???? That's a joke, right? - and, please - before you bother about your naming conventions, please give us one (1) viable ship to actually judge for its qualities, instead of what kind of potential piece of metal scrap it'll be if ever launched! I think earlier comments on your destroyer made that quite abundantly clear...

You know guys not everyone joins the forum as an expert... recall how much of a noob Mr. ALVAMA was when he joined, and now he produces better art than most of you...

Just something to think about... ;)

this ship will require major ballasting to lay on that waterline, and I have doubts about it's stability without that ballast.
you remove a lot of weight as in engines and turrets. most of these turrets are actually destroyer turrets, and it makes me wonder why you would need an battleship for this role. you also lack the directors to have any use for it as AA training vessel.

EDIT: as pointed out by the guys on the IRC, I am not trying to say it is impossible to do this conversion, as it was actually done with the Wyoming. however, she was much higher in the water because of that, and the ballast would still have to be added.
a bit of research also answered my question about why: she wasn't an battleship any more anyways due to the Washington treaty.
Drawings are credited with J.Scholtens
I ask of you to prove me wrong. Not say I am wrong, but prove it, because then I will have learned something new.

Hi cvbbdd,

A couple of points regarding the flight deck cruiser. Not going to get into the whole feasibility \ weights \ etc discussion - I am in no sense qualified to discuss that - but there's a couple of bits I noticed. Firstly, you're shipping a 16" (i think?) turret up front, however, there's no armour protection for the magazine that I can see. A good hit in that area would take the bows off and render you likely to lose the ship.

The other point is a very minor one - I understand that the props on the flight deck cruiser are now deprecated, but I believe heuhen has done a parts sheets for propellors already (I think it's in the parts sheets bit of the site)

I don't particularly appreciate anybody abusing my drawings, even old ones with bad propellers. You should have asked, and not stated that you are sorry

so anyone's ship i use, thanks :)
I do believe it is considered bad manners, even on the Internet, to do what you have done with the drawings. Good manners required asking for permission before mutilating other's drawings. In the future I would thank you for not touching any of my drawings. If you want you can draw yourself whichever ship you want to do. These are not your ships, these are aberrations, more fitting NS forum than here.

Gentlemen, the Fair Use Agreement pretty explicitly states that anyone is free to use Shipbucket drawings for any non-commercial purpose as long as they credit properly. This guy has added credits to his drawings and as such is not breaking any rules.

Isn't this essentially what most of you do anyway? ;)

Cvbbdd, I am new here as well and no pixel artist as of yet. One of the things you should do, especially when trading parts between hulls of different sizes, is do a quick and dirty top down drawing so you can see how they actually fit. People often forget how cramped even large warships are.

I would do a quick bow drawing too, as when viewing the side aspect the tapering of the hull to the keel is hard to judge. This is especially important with turrets and VLS that have deep deck penetration as well as engines located deep in the hull. Again, no need to get fancy or post them, just for your reference. Once you set up a few internal layouts you will be able to gauge such things without the extra work, but if you are not an actual mariner or spend a lot of time on ships these things will not be known to you until you try to draw them and everything is sticking out the sides!

Good luck!
