Re: Battleship Yamato Aegis Modernization and Rebuild
... and some Arleigh Burke class ships in the USN use the SeaRAM instead of the Mk 48 even though they have the Aegis system. for the USN, these were initially the 4 burkes deployed to Rota Spain as part of the EPAA for european bmd... the reason they required SeaRAM and not just RAM is because the ...

Re: Modern NSFS new-build
will this be using essm blk-2 (ie. active/arh seekers) so it doesn't need illuminators? or will you replace the satcom in the radome at the top of the i-mast with a stir fcr (or just add stir fcr somewhere else)?

Re: Battleship Yamato Aegis Modernization and Rebuild
re. gun fire control: since you already have spy-1d, you can just have a similar system like the ddg-51's mk-34 gws (gun weapon system) which uses the spy-1d as it's main source for targeting data (ref: http://www.tpub.com/gunners/232.htm)...

Re: Battleship Yamato Aegis Modernization and Rebuild
I know it's fictional/AU but am just wondering: why are the forward spy1 panels at a higher elevation than the rear panels? are you trying to get the forward beams to clear some obstruction in the forward part of the ship? fwiw, IRL the ddg51 flight-2A rear spy1 panels were placed at a higher ...

@judah -- hello kababayan! :) I guess you've been following the progress of our (soon to be) 3 hamilton class ships... one small item: top of the foremast, all our whecs have lost their two DF/direction finding antennas (both the crossed dipole adcock and the crossed loop antennas)... sad but true ...

yup, that was the knox class ff-1070 "Downes", which served as the test ship for the 1975 at-sea testing of the TAS mk23...erik_t wrote:One USN FF (I forget which) replaced SPS-40 with Mk 23 for testing in the 1980s and never switched back.
